"Aloha from Effluvia! I can breathe easy today, because an artist I hold very near and dear to the fibers of my being has added his flaming torch to the communal flame of honest, raw artistry. The flickers of shadows and light unveiling cosmic theater on our faces as we watch this fire, now the smoldering embers hum to the wondrous notes of Graffiti Mechanism and boy do they dance like sparks dying in the night air. The contributions to the world of independent, liberated musicians that this artist has made shall echo louder than the affable screams of so many other beautiful projects. Graffiti Mechanism is the pseudonym for Adam Crammond, the founder of one of the greatest of netlabels, Proc-records, and the conceptual Ananda to such a bustling Buddha 4m@ records. It is on these archives that many of us netlablers made our beginnings, including myself and the giant that splits with him here today, Pollux. The work of Crammond has inspired us both and many others. Always with care to his label but always pumping his sounds with fresh, radiant blood. Noise, techno, ambience, conceptual, psychedelia, often lowbit, the output of GM is always unexpected, unorthodox, and as personal as his compassionate album reviews. Here he presents some very funky and emotionally spanking dark ambiance and noise. Glitchy, crunchy, lo fi, but not trashy. No sir! The cathartic feeling and depth of these rusty solar systems is enough to temporarily incapacitate the most unwilling of noise explorers and hold them in the dark shadowy introspections of these cosmic works. Here, Pollux too contributes to the dark corridors of this abandoned ballroom hall with the eerie emissions of a ghostly owl. These sounds are a more seldom sight in Arnaud Barbe’s recent work, reminding me yet again that prolific output can still surprise you, surprise you greatly!
